The Mapex Armory Series sits at the top of Mapex’s mid-range offering, combining professional-inspired features, premium finishes and a powerful hybrid shell design in a package built for serious players.
At the heart of Armory is Mapex’s Birch/Maple/Birch hybrid shell, engineered to deliver a fast, articulate response with the warmth and body of maple alongside the punch and projection of birch. Combined with SONIClear™ bearing edges, the result is a drum kit with excellent tuning stability, strong fundamental tone and a wide usable tuning range.
For 2025, Mapex took Armory another significant step forward. Kits are now supplied with REMO® UC Pinstripe batter heads, giving players a proven, performance-ready drumhead and helping deliver a great sound from the moment the kit is set up. The bass drum has also been upgraded with a factory-fitted tom holder mount, allowing the rack toms to be mounted directly from the bass drum rather than requiring additional stands or clamps.
Armory also incorporates technology and design features developed for Mapex’s higher-level drum ranges, including the SONIClear™ Suspension System, Sonic Pedestal Feet and insulated bass drum claws. Together, these features help maximise shell resonance while keeping the drums stable, controlled and dependable in real-world playing situations.
Finished with striking Olive Wood veneers and supplied with the powerful Tomahawk steel snare drum, Armory delivers the look, feel and performance expected by experienced drummers while remaining one of the most accessible routes into Mapex’s higher-performance drum offering.
Birch / Maple Hybrid Shells
The 8-ply, 7.55mm Birch/Maple/Birch shells are central to the Armory sound. The combination balances the focused attack and projection of birch with the warmth, depth and musical response of maple, creating a versatile shell that performs equally well in live and studio environments.
The result is a fast, powerful and articulate drum sound with plenty of body and definition, making Armory suitable across a wide range of contemporary playing styles.
REMO® Pinstripe Drumheads – Upgraded for 2025
As part of the 2025 Armory upgrade, Mapex now equips the toms with REMO® UC Pinstripe batter heads. Pinstripe heads have long been a favourite with working drummers thanks to their combination of attack, controlled sustain and powerful low-end response.
Including them as standard means Armory delivers a more refined and performance-ready sound straight from the outset, while removing one of the first upgrades many players traditionally make after purchasing a new drum kit.
Bass Drum Mounted Tom Holder
The 2025 Armory also introduces a factory-fitted tom mount on the bass drum, allowing the supplied TH676 Double Tom Holder to position both rack toms directly above the bass drum.
This creates a simple, stable and familiar setup while eliminating the need to mount the rack toms from additional cymbal stands or separate hardware. It also makes setting up and packing down quicker and helps keep the overall hardware footprint around the kit more manageable – particularly useful for rehearsals and regular gigging.
SONIClear™ Bearing Edges
Mapex SONIClear™ bearing edges allow the drumhead to sit flatter against the shell, improving head-to-shell contact and helping the drum tune more easily and consistently.
This increased contact helps produce a deeper fundamental pitch, greater resonance and a wider usable tuning range, allowing the character of the hybrid shell to come through more clearly.
SONIClear™ Suspension System
Borrowed from Mapex’s higher-level drum designs, the SONIClear™ Suspension System allows the rack toms to resonate more freely by reducing unnecessary energy transfer into the hardware.
This helps preserve vibration in both the shell and drumhead, resulting in improved sustain, resonance and tonal clarity.
Tomahawk Steel Snare Drum
Every Armory kit includes the 14" x 5.5" Tomahawk Snare Drum. Built around a 1mm steel shell, the Tomahawk delivers a sharp, focused attack with excellent projection and a powerful rimshot.
Its bright, cutting character provides a strong contrast to the warmer hybrid tom and bass drum shells, giving the complete kit a broad and versatile tonal palette.
Premium Fitting Features
